History of Teddi Bear in Russia
In Russia a collection bear is acquiring weight only today, after many years having passed since appearance of the first bear Teddy. In 2000 in Moscow there was opened the School of the puppet design, in which program of training some time later on there appeared a course for manufacturing of collection bears Teddy. A lot of people, being charmed by this sweet creature and having finished the course of training, got engaged seriously with making of author bears. Many authors were lucky, that their works can see a great number of people. This possibility was given to them by the Vakhtanov Puppet Gallery (Central Artist's Hall, Moscow). The hostess of the gallery Irina Myzina has exposed a great interest to development of this trend in Russia and began to take an active part in the creative destiny of the most talented authors. Many of them now are being exhibited in prestige puppet galleries and not only in Moscow, but also in other towns of Russia. And some of them since 2002 have began to participate in foreign exhibitions. In April, 2002 for the first time there appeared Russian bears in Germany and at the major international exhibition «TEDDYBAR TOTAL». Two Russian bears, brought to the exhibition by the director of the School of the puppet design Svetlana Voskresenskaya, were bought even before the official opening of the exhibition by a Japan museum of collection bears, which brunch was scheduled to be opened in China. They were the works of Yelena Yurova and Maria Filatova. Nowadays in Germany and not only there is known the names of the Russian authors Natasha Katayeva, the sisters Bukharayevy, Alena Zhirenkina and others.
At the beginning of 2003 in Russia there appeared the first firm, specializing on collection bears Teddy (Studio DICKIE), and in 2004 in the city of Perm there was registered the first in Russia Club Teddy, whose hostess is already known teddyist Natalya Katayeva.
Bears Teddy become more and more popular in Russia. The number of authors is growing, and the number of collectors also began to grow. The tempo of growth allows to forecast that in the nearest future in Russia there will be organized major international festivals and exhibitions, devoted to bears Teddy.
