From November 20 to November 30, 2004 in Moscow was
held the 1st Moscow exhibition of collection bears "Teddymania
2004". This is an event in the cultural life of Russia because
such exhibition was organized in Russia for the first time.
The exposition of author's bears was received to its hospitable warm walls
the "Art-Trofi" gallery (Rybnikov per. 2). The owner of the
gallery - painter Ushakova Natalia - was pleasantly surprised with the
richness and variety of the world of author's bears. The gallery became
a real cozy house for them.
At the exhibition there were presented about 150 works
of sixty authors - teddists not only from Moscow, but also from Saint
Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Perm, Pushkino, Kaluga, Sergiev-Posad.
At the exhibition there was presented the first specialized
club in Russia - the Perm club "Teddy Bear" (city of
Perm), the " Dickey Studio" (Moscow), the "Club
"People and Dolls" (Pushkino), and also the Children's theatre
studio "Arkadia". The last one presented the bears, made
with great love and warmth by the children at the age of 5 to 14.
The exhibition's organizer - Dickie Workshop - established the Prizes
for the winners in three nominations. There were invited five people -
professionals and amateurs to form a jury for determination of winners.
During the exhibition visitors actively voted for the bears they liked
for awarding of the Prize Symphaty of the Audience.
Opening - The presentation of the Exhibition started on November
19 at 18:00. For the opening there were invited the jury members, the
owners of galleries and salons of Moscow, collectors, several teddists,
already known in Moscow, and also many mass media representatives.
The exhibition's organizers did not expect such great
interest from the mass media and simply from audience. During the first
two days of the exhibition (Saturday and Sunday) visitors who examined
the exposition with great interest flooded the gallery and when leaving,
expressed great delight of everything they saw. Even outside the gallery
there were heard comments: "It is astonishing!".
The first bear from the exhibition was bought already
on November 19. Late in the evening, after the Presentation was closed,
some visitors came suddenly to the gallery, took a bear, named "Johnny"
and didn't want to leave hold of it. Unfortunately the others had no chance
to see that bear. But it only confirms, that the interest to the author's
bears in Russia is very high.
The attendance of the exhibition was also high notwithstanding
the snowfall that brought down to Moscow a month's precipitation norm.
There were many continuous phone calls specifying working
hours of the gallery, daily visits of journalists and television companies,
new visitors were flooding the hall again and again. From morning, on
the opening of the gallery, a line of visitors set up daily. The organizers
obviously did not except such response. But they came to a persuasion
that the exhibition "Teddymania" in Russia shall live!
And it will be an annual tradition and may be in future will grow to an
international exhibition.
On 30 day of November, the final day of the exhibition, at
18:00 the organizers gathered all participants to present solemnly to
the winners the Diplomas and the Prizes, to review the exhibition, to
hear from the participants their opinion and wishes for the future.
